Waterfront House Fire Spreads to Adjacent Homes

This week along the Seattle waterfront, a new construction home on a private lane in Laurelhurst burst into flames. According to the Seattle Times, the fire grew quite rapidly and began spreading to the two adjacent homes and also started a small brush fire on a nearby hillside.

There were roughly 100 fire fighting personnel on hand that worked to control the flames, and damages to a home South of the fire were quite extensive. There were two painters inside the home when the explosion happened, and they told firefighters they heard a loud boom, and believed it to be a furnace exploding. One of the painters suffered facial burns and was taken to Harborview Medical Center, as was two of the firefighters, one for heat exhaustion the other for a minor injury. Although no kind of weather pattern can keep an explosion from happening in a home, the lack of rain did not help the flames from growing.
